St Finbarr’s is, first and foremost, a Catholic School. God’s presence is lived and celebrated, where each day we grow in friendship with Jesus and respond as disciples with our head, heart and hands.
Through the Religious Education curriculum and the permeation of the gospel values throughout all Key Learning Areas, our students are invited to participate in this faith relationship by learning through the scriptures the mystery of God and the faith of the Church.
Our students develop their understanding to reflect, make sense of, celebrate and live more deeply the mystery of Christ as revealed in each person and in relationship with others, the Church, and Creation.
The Religious Education curriculum content also supports the preparation of students for the Sacramental programmes.
The Sacraments are moments that help and strengthen us on our spiritual pilgrimage through life.
St Finbarr’s School follows the Diocesan policy for the reception of the Sacraments.
Confirmation is celebrated in Year 3 for those children who have been baptised into the Catholic Church.
First Reconciliation is celebrated in the Season of Lent in for those children in Year 4 who have been baptised and confirmed into the Catholic Church.
First Holy Communion is celebrated by students in Year 4 who have celebrated both their Confirmation and their First Reconciliation.
Students who join our Parish school community from other Dioceses or Parishes who may have received the sacraments in a different order are asked to contact Mrs Sonya Piccoli (Assistant Principal - Mission) if interested in enrolling in the Sacramental programmes.
Parents who are interested in having their children baptised need to contact the Parish Priest, Fr David Gilbey, at the Parish office on 02 6685 6260 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
